Terms of Use

The Philanthrope and Misanthrope apps. Effective November 5, 2026. Українською

These terms apply when you use the Philanthrope and Misanthrope apps (the “apps”). By installing or using an app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the apps.

What the apps offer

Every day the apps show one card with a short text and a classical painting. The card of the day is free. Philanthrope retells real good news and links to its source; Misanthrope offers dry humour and quotes from the classics.

Cards are selected and written with the help of artificial intelligence and checked automatically, but they may still contain inaccuracies. Always rely on the original source for facts. The cards are for information and entertainment only and are not professional, medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.

Pro subscription

“Buy us a coffee”

This is a voluntary one-time purchase to support the apps. It doesn’t unlock any features.

Content and rights

The texts of the cards, the design and the code of the apps belong to us. Paintings come from the open collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and are in the public domain (CC0). Quotes come from public-domain books. You may share postcards from the app for personal, non-commercial use.

Acceptable use

Please don’t try to break, reverse-engineer or overload the apps or our site, and don’t copy the content in bulk for commercial use.

Availability and liability

We try to publish a new card every day, but the apps are provided “as is”: we can’t guarantee they will always be available or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from the use of the apps. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Privacy

How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes and governing law

If we change these terms, the new version will appear on this page with a new date. These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine; if you are a consumer, you also keep the protections of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
